Sujet : Après avoir perdu son bébé, comme Jackie Kennedy, Lurene Hallett est devenue une inconditionnelle du couple présidentielle. Le 22 novembre 1963, alors qu'elle a failli approcher ses idoles à l'aéroport de Love Field, Lurene apprend, avec le reste du monde, l'assassinat du Président. Malgré la violente opposition de son mari, elle décide de se rendre aux obsèques présidentielles. Dans le bus qui la conduit à Washington, Lurene fait la connaissance de Jonell, un petite fille noire, accompagnée de Paul Carter qu'elle croit être son père...

Michelle et son rôle :
Pour pouvoir jouer dans Love Field, qui lui tenait particulièrement à coeur, Michelle a dû renoncer à participer au film Thelma et Louise.
Son rôle de texane peroxydée un peu nunuche lui a valu sa troisième nomination aux Oscars en 1993. C'est Emma Thompson qui a remporté la statuette cette année là pour Retour à Howards End (James Ivory, 93).
Michelle a reçu l'Ours d'argent au Festival de Berlin pour sa prestation dans Love Field
A l'origine du projet, Michelle a eu beaucoup de mal à le mettre sur pied. En effet, malgré sa présence au générique et un script écrit par l'un des plus grands scénaristes d'Hollywood (Don Roos), les studios rechignaient à mettre en scène une histoire d'amour entre une Blanche et un Noir.
Même Denzel Washington, qui avait accepté de jouer le rôle de Paul Carter, se désista au dernier moment. Par peur de quoi ?

Sujet : Au coeur du monde étriqué et clos de la haute société new-yorkaise des années 1870, Newland Archer, jeune avocat fiancé à une innocente et naïve héritière, May Welland, tombe passionnément amoureux de la Comtesse Ellen Olenska, cousine de sa future femme...


Michelle et son rôle :
Le temps de l'innocence est un film étonnant de la part de Martin Scorsese, plus habitué à dépeindre des milieux un peu moins "feutrés". Il a choisi Michelle après l'avoir remarquée dans Veuve mais pas trop. Pour lui, elle correspondait parfaitement au rôle car elle était capable de porter les costumes de l'époque d'une manière très crédible (comme dans Les liaisons dangereuses) et car son côté résolument moderne pouvait servir le rôle de la Comtesse, qui vit en avance sur son temps en défiant les régles de la société.
Michelle a enchaîné les tournages de Batman le défi et du Temps de l'innocence, deux films aux univers résolument différents et deux de ses meilleurs rôles.
Le film a été un des grands oubliés de la cérémonie des Oscars (qui a tendance à un peu trop souvent oublier Scorsese). Ni Daniel Day-Lewis, ni Michelle n'ont été cités pour leur prestation, seule Winona Ryder a été nommée pour le meilleur second rôle, mais elle s'est fait battre par Anna Paquin... (Anna qui ?...mais si, c'est la petite peste de La leçon de Piano).

Sujet : Une nuit de pleine lune, l'éditeur Will Randall est mordu par un loup. Il n'y prête guère attention. Côté boulot, un jeune arriviste, Stewart Swinton, lui pique sa place. Côté sentimental, le même Swinton lui pique sa femme. Will tombe amoureux de Laura, la fille de son patron. Mais peu à peu, il se transforme en loup-garou. Lui, d'habitude si discret, va mordre la vie à pleines dents...

Michelle n'était pas intéressée par le rôle de Laura Alden mais Jack Nicholson insista tellement auprès d'elle pour qu'elle accepte le rôle qu'elle finit par céder par amitié pour lui et en souvenir des bons moments partagés sur le tournage des Sorcières d'Eastwick.
A noter pour les fans de la série Friends l'apparition de David "Ross" Schwimmer (encore inconnu à l'époque) en gardien de zoo.
A l'origine du projet, c'est Mia Farrow qui devait interpréter le rôle de Kate Nelligan

Sujet : Ancienne marine reconvertie dans l'enseignement, LouAnne Johnson débute au Parkmont College où on lui confie une classe de PES (Programme d'Education Sociale), dont les élèves aux caractères difficiles vivent de graves problèmes familiaux. Oubliant ses concepts éducatifs et ses préjugés, LouAnne s'impose par des méthodes peu orthodoxes et gagne peu à peu la confiance des adolescents...



Michelle et son rôle :
Esprits rebelles est l'adaptation d'un roman autobiographique écrit par la vraie LouAnne Johnson et intitulé My posse don't do homework (ce qui signifie : mes élèves ne font pas leurs devoirs).
Michelle s'est beaucoup investie dans le film (elle en assure la production exécutive) et a même accepté de tourner alors qu'elle était enceinte de son fils John Henry. Au fur et à mesure que son ventre s'arrondissait, elle portait des vêtements de plus en amples afin de dissimuler sa grossesse à l'écran.
Le film est également produit par Don Simpson et Jerry Bruckheimer, spécialistes des films d'action avec à leur actif des succès tels que Top Gun (Tony Scott, 86) et le récent Armaggedon (Michael Bay, 98).
Esprits rebelles a été le succès surprise de l'été 95 aux Etats-Unis et est devenu l'un des 10 plus gros succès de l'année 1995.
Le film a également révélé le chanteur Coolio dont le titre Gangsta's Paradise extrait de la BOF a été un énorme succès.
Michelle détestait tellement le titre Dangerous Minds (elle aurait souhaité conservé le titre du roman de LouAnne Johnson mais celui-ci n'était pas assez vendeur pour Simpson et Bruckheimer) qu'elle refusa de le prononcer pendant toute la promotion du film.
Bien que productrice exécutive, Michelle n'a pas non plus pu éviter que le rôle d'Andy Garcia soit coupé au montage. En effet celui-ci jouait le rôle du mari de LouAnne qu'elle quittait au début du film. Très gênée que son rôle soit supprimé (surtout qu'il avait accepté de faire le film pour elle), Michelle ne put rien contre cette décision irrévocable des producteurs.

Rebellious spirits was the success surprised of summer 95 in the United States and became one of 10 larger successes of the year 1995. Very constrained that its role is removed (especially that it had agreed to make film for it), Michelle could not anything against this irrevocable decision producers.

Sujet : Sallyanne Atwater, modeste employée de casino, rêve de devenir présentatrice à la télé. En se fabricant un faux CV, elle parvient à se faire engagée comme assistante dans une station de télé dont le rédacteur en chef est le grand reporter Warren Justice, connu pour son intégrité et son caractère difficile. Sallyanne finit par obtenir la présentation de la météo...



Michelle et son rôle :
Personnel et Confidentiel est l'adaptation d'un roman sur la vie de Jessica Savitch, sorte d'Anne Sinclair américaine du début des années 80. La version de Jon Avnet (produite par Disney) a été un peu édulcorée puisque le film passe sous silence la mort violente de Jessica dans un accident de la route, son penchant pour la cocaïne, le suicide de son mari et ses crises de colère hors caméra.
A l'époque du tournage, John Henry avait un an et Claudia Rose deux ans. Michelle exigea de travailler entourée de ses deux enfants. Si l'ambiance fut bon enfant côté caravane-babysitting, elle devint rapidement tendue entre les deux acteurs principaux qui ne cachèrent plus leur animosité en s'évitant au maximum.
A noter que c'est Dedee Pfeiffer, la petite soeur de Michelle, qui joue le rôle de la soeur de Tally

At the time of turning, John Henry had one year and Claudia Pink two years. Michelle required to work surrounded of his/her two children. If environment were good child side caravan-babysitting, it quickly became tended between the two principal actors who did not hide any more their animosity while avoiding themselves to the maximum. It should be noted that it is Dedee Pfeiffer, the small sister of Michelle, which plays the part of the sister of Tally
